Kritou Terra has been the birth place of dragomans Hadjigeorgakis Cornesios and Hadjiosif, of Archbishop Damaskinos, of the E.O.K.A. hero Savvas Petrides, of the great poet Tziapouras, and of many other great personalities including well-known scientists and businessmen. 

Also originating from our community are several well-known families such as the following:

• The family of Anastasios Leventis, father of the wife of the late President of the Republic of Cyprus, Tassos Papadopoulos.
• The family of Ellada Leonida-Papaioannou, wife of the Greek Ambassador in Cyprus, Mr. Vasileios Papaioannou.
• The family of Antonis K. Indianou (1899-1968), from the Toumazos family. In 1924, Indianou founded the A.C. Indianos-Advocate law firm.
• The family of Demetris and Christis Lottides who had been the owners of “Kathimerini” newspaper, as well as of other magazines and media on the island.
• The family of the late Artemisia Panayiotou, founder of “Voici La Mode Ltd”, which respresents the famous brand of Marks & Spencer.
• The family of Artemis Pafiti-Antoniadou, present owner of “Voici La Mode Ltd”. The latter is the founder of the Artemisia Panayiotou Foundation, which is known for its contribution and which has been established in the memory of Artemis Pafiti Antoniadou’s aunt, Artemisia Panayiotou. 
• The family of Savvas Panayiotides, founder of “CLR Stockbrokers”.

As a final point, it is worth mentioning Arkadiou’s observation that never before has a small community managed to spotlight its unique sights and important personalities as Kritou Terra has.
